Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

I've always loved Joss Whedon's works, just because he's a pure genius when it comes to science-fiction on television. The Brown Coat that I am, I was shocked when Firefly was canceled. I knew that it would only be time until he'd get out the pen and paper and write something amazing once more. And then the 2007 Writers' Strike happened. I don't think anybody expected the writers to actually write through it, but Joss Whedon did, penning Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. He wanted to create something small and inexpensive, yet professionally done.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog tells the story of Dr. Horrible, the supervillain alter ego of Billy; Captain Hammer, his nemesis; and Penny, their mutual love interest. Dr. Horrible is trying to gain entrance to the Bad Horse's Evil League of Evils, and uses his inventions to take over the world while struggling to make a romantic connection with Penny. At the same time, Captain Hammer enjoys harassing Dr. Horrible even when the situation does not warrant it, and eventually captures Penny's heart. It's one of the better written musical films that I've seen, and there's a third, even deeper level, and that one is the same as the top surface one. Like with pie.

The musical is available on iTunes, and you can also watch it online.
